Relaxation and Culinary Delights in Braga

After a few days of non-stop exploration, I dedicated today to rest and relaxation. But as the sun began to set, I had a very special plan: dinner with my new friend, the sommelier from yesterday, at his family restaurant, Trapeza Gastrobar & Vinoteca.

I'm quickly learning that in Portugal, dining is a late-night affair. Many restaurants don't even open until 7:00 or 7:30 PM. Of course, I arrived at 6:00 and was the first person there! The setting was beautiful—a little out of the city center, which gave it a peaceful, countryside feel and made for a welcome change of pace.

Meeting my friend and his wife felt like a reunion. His passion for wine is truly contagious, and I got another deep dive into Portugal's incredible wine regions. The food was a Mediterranean-inspired masterpiece, with impeccable service to match. For my dinner, I started with a delicious appetizer and ended with an amazing shrimp and cherry tomato dish.

It was a perfect evening of great food, great wine, and even better company. A short ride back to my hotel, the Bracara Augusta, was the perfect end to a relaxing and delicious day.
